CHAOS LAB VI

The Ultratech 💾 collective and Toplap Strasbourg invite you to the sixth edition of the Chaos Lab, a sanctuary dedicated to all kinds of sonic and visual experimentation.

We return to Carbone under high pressure for a summer fairy tale woven with pixels and distortions. Here, the rule is simple: a symphony of electronic music and visuals, tinged with audacity and risk-taking. The performances are born in the moment, adapting to the whispers of the audience.

No pre-established framework: just pure improvisation, where our most intimate impulses are revealed and shared with you. So get ready, because that night, we are bringing the chaos with a lineup including… °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

🔊 COLOSCOPE — clandestine medicine. Torn between the early transgressions of krautrock and the synth lines of John Carpenter’s films, Coloscope offers an entirely live and largely improvised electro set that reconnects with the DIY, precarious, and minimalist approach of punk and clandestine medicine. Coloscope makes its own distortions, synthesizers, and more. From scratch or nothing. °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

🔊 144MIDI – Eurodance 144midi is a mix of eurodance on various synthesizers, it’s often funny, it goes fast and loud, it changes tempo a lot, and sometimes it’s a bit too noisy for eurodance. The “DJ” project of Ralt144MI, 144midi also uses live coding to create chaos in all its synthesizers. “I feel like I’m hearing a concert from the smoking area” – a listener “It’s music from a bad dream” – another listener Soundcloud link °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

🔊 CRASHSERVER home/code/crashserver_pseudo_code.ext if you.like: { music (algorithmic == organic) && rhythms (dancing == tortured) && sounds (digital == analog) && construction (structured == chaos) } ==> continue else: ==> pass

Crash Server, composed of SVDK & ZBDM. Their music is created live using lines of computer code, thus transforming programming language into music. In live performances, nothing is planned, nothing is predictable. There’s as much probability of playing gabber with rock tendencies as there is of a nihilistic symphony with new-age tendencies. Or something else. Or the audience decides. Or the server. Anything is possible. As long as the server CRASHES. Website link Instagram link °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

🎬 W.STONE Passionate about digital arts, William Stone will illustrate the evening’s performances with numerous generative and interactive minimalist visuals exploring themes of computer code and glitches. When he steps out of his academic research, he can transcend a live performance of rock, punk, or IDM with always relevant and surprising visual matches. °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

🔊 FRONTALDK Vulpez and Youn met over ten years ago and share a passion for sound. An artistic, fluid, and unfiltered dialogue is established, resulting in a common language. Their on-stage chemistry is felt in every performance, where raw energy and emotion blend harmoniously to create unforgettable moments. They express themselves through a style of Deep Techno, Melodic music, with Acid tones that will surprise you, based on a hybrid live mix of machines and computer. 🎬 CRISPR Armed with mathematics, algorithms, and a C++ compiler, Crispr projects universes propelled by music. As a keen analyzer of sound frequencies, the compiler disappears to leave only a fluid and personal audio-reactive work of art. °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

🎬 520STill Making pixels dance with sines, 520STill started creating on an Atari and now uses P5.js and HYDRA to produce visuals that are sometimes minimalist, sometimes psychedelic, but always seeking effects on the retina. Not recommended for people with epilepsy! °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

🔊 BERYANN PARKER Musicologist, music teacher, pianist, composer, and poet in Strasbourg. I practice Live Coding with Sonic Pi, SuperCollider mainly but also Ableton Live 😊, member of Toplap Strasbourg. °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°

🔊 ALT+F4 Founding member of Radio M.I.R and Holacratie, DJ, versatile producer, he composed soundtracks for short films or instrumentals for rappers (MC Kriké), played keyboard in Digital Chemist, thus participating in the collective Digital Freak’n Cie, performed live with the trio Bim Bam Boum and toured extensively between Grenoble and Strasbourg. Since 2016, he has been returning to his first loves: the techno mix that he wants generous and unifying, combining tracks unearthed from our common memories with more sophisticated tracks. His only goal: to reveal the dancers sleeping within us.

Live performances start at 9:30 PM.

The Chaos Lab is a welcoming space for experimentation where bad behavior (violence, insults, non-consensual acts, etc.) has no place. The Ultratech & TOPLAP team, as well as the team at the “secret location,” reserve the right to eject anyone exhibiting or reported for such behavior and to contact the relevant authorities if necessary.
